We searched on the Internet for possible topics on Computer Graphics techniques relating to Homo Colossus and fell in 3 possible directions:

1. Procedural generation

2. Forest simulation

3. Shadow

All of them could work for the Homo Colossus project idea "Real trees". We split them into several more specific ideas and pre-selected 3 of them.

2. Billboard grass (lawn simulation)

3. Variance Shadow Mapping v.s. Exponential Shadow Mapping (focus on light bleeding for tree leaves)

On Apr. 22, we talked to our TA. Due to the existence of comparison (realism of at least two CG algorithm + the comparison algorithm) in the second and third topic, the workloads are kind of too big compared to the first one. So we decided to choose the topic tree generation using a space colonization algorithm. Talking to the TA more about this topic, he suggested us figuring out the platform & language to use as well as the rule of procedural generation first. So for the lasting time of this week, we decided to search more related work about the space colonization algorithm.
